Happy New Year

I found this list of Facebook, and was feeling tired at work so I took a break by filling it in. I don’t think the questions capture all the little things that happen in a year, but it’s something.

1. What did you do that you’d never done before?
Lots-
Lived in Arlington
Traveled to Nigeria, Palestine, Guatemala, New Hampshire, Albany, Poconos
Developed a youth friendly loan product for a micro finance institution
Developed a full curricula in Spanish with topics related to sexual reproductive health for girls
Danced tango
Got engaged
Experienced a blizzard

2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
At some point I realized that I don’t do New Year’s resolutions

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes! My sister in law

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Yes, my grandfather

5. What countries did you visit?
Nigeria, Palestine, Guatemala

6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
TIME

7. What date from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Feb 8- I got engaged

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Professional accomplishments
Finding an awesome apartment

9. What was your biggest failure?
Being behind on wedding planning

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
No

11. What was the best thing you bought?
A desk for my fiancé
A wedding dress

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
JL for being awesome

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Everyone has bad moments.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Student loan payments, wedding stuff, domestic travel

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
diamond ring, reducing my commute time, living with JL, personal training, tango dancing, my shun knife, being back in the US

16. What song will always remind you of 2010?
Hmmm “Oxford Comma”

Spent time outside

Shopping

Spent Christmas in San Antonio with family. It’s always nice to go home.

JL, Jen, Summer

22. Did you fall in love this year?
Yes. I fall more in love every year.

23. How many one-night stands?
None. Why is this question even here?
24. What was your favorite TV program?
Lost and Glee

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
I don’t hate anyone.

26. What was the best book you read?
The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo (I know, but what can I say read it followed by its successor).

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Feist and Vampire Weekend

28. What did you want and get?
Wanted to get a place with JL and got it. Wanted a job with a future and got it.

29. What did you want and not get?
To be thinner

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
I think I only saw 3 and can’t remember them

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 29 and celebrated with Rose, a wonderful Nigerian woman who celebrates her bday on the same day. She surprised me with vanilla ice cream and then we talked into the night.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasur
ably more satisfying?
Having more time to spend with friends.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?
Scraping by

34. What kept you sane?
Being with JL, watching Glee, working with cool people

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
None

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Israel-Palestine conflict

37. Who did you miss?
My family

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Too many to say the best. Probably Rathi at work

Rest your mind when work becomes too stressful.

    NICE!!! Sounds like you had a great year. I hope 2011 is even better, it’s looking good! I was surprised to find a blog knowing how busy you are. :)
